Sorrell the Sorcerer was a powerful (though absentminded) magician who once reluctantly assisted Murky Dismal and Lurky create a comet to destroy the Color Caves. Unfortunately, he made his comet so large that it would destroy the Pits as well.

One day Sorrell happened to be on his way to a "sorcerer's convention". But before he could go he had trouble with his ship. That was when he met Murky and Lurk (whom he mistakenly referred to as Murklish and Lurklish), he traded parts to fix his ship for a spell. It was a simple spell, to make a comet out of an evil rainbow. However, in his rush to leave Sorrell didn't think to use the proper spell to control the comet's size.
